Raleigh steakhouse gets a 'B' grade: This week's Triangle sanitation scores (Nov. 8)

The News & Observer publishes a weekly roundup of restaurant sanitation scores to keep you up-to-date on the health grades at Triangle dining spots.

Sanitation scores and their corresponding letter grades are used in North Carolina to assess restaurants' adherence to rules and standards intended to mitigate and prevent the spread of food-borne illnesses.

Here are sanitation scores in Wake County for the week of Nov. 1-Nov. 8.

Wake County sanitation scores

The Wake County sanitation grades database shows at least 100 inspections were completed between Oct. Nov. 1 and Nov. 7.

Most restaurants received an A grade, or a score of at least 90%.

Four restaurants received a B grade, or a score of at least 80% but lower than 90%.

C&T Wok Chinese & Thai Cuisine (130 Morrisville Square Way, Morrisville) received a score of 82.5% during an inspection on Nov. 1.

The restaurant previously scored a 91% in April and a 95% in February.

China Wok(417 W Hargett St., Raleigh) received a score of 88% during an inspection on Nov. 7.

The restaurant was in violation of 16 state standards, with point deductions ranging from zero to 1.5 points.

Violations included storage of raw beef, shrimp and chicken above containers of cooked chicken, soiled pans stored as clean, food stored at improper temperatures, food stored without proper date markings, containers of food stored directly on cooler floor, chemical spray in unlabeled bottle.

The restaurant previously scored a 90% in June and a 91% in February.

The Oak(7440-143 Louisburg Road, Raleigh) received a score of 87.5% during an inspection on Nov. 7.

Thai Cafe (3309 Rogers Road, Wake Forest) received a score of 88.5% during an inspection on Nov. 7.

No restaurants in Wake County received a C grade, or a score of at least 70% but less than 80%.

No restaurants received a failing grade, or a score below 70%.

Durham County sanitation scores

The Durham County inspection management system shows that 22 restaurant inspections were completed between Nov. 1 and Nov. 8.

Most restaurants received an A grade.

One restaurant received a B grade, or a score of at least 80% but lower than 90%.

Waffle House (4203 NC HWY 55, Durham) received a score of 85% during an inspection on Nov. 7.

No restaurants in Durham County received a C grade, or a score of at least 70% but less than 80%.

No restaurants received a failing grade, or a score below 70%.
